Saturday Night Music Performer's FAQs. Are you tired of playing in bars? Are you interested in playing in a small, intimate coffee house type of atmosphere? You may enjoy playing here. The Fulton Book Co. / Fulton Computer Co. built a small stage over the summer of 2006. We put some of our book store displays on wheels so they can be moved out of the way for seating. Every performance night will feature either professional entertainment and an open mic night, with one night a month set aside for all open mic. Our open mic nights give anyone with the courage to step up to the microphone an opportunity to perform. Our events often feature professional musicians and singers and are free and open to the public. You'll be playing for tips from the audience. Just to make sure you make out OK, though, we'll pay you $100 for your appearance here. Here are other FAQs, based on questions we've received: Are you planning on having more than one act per evening? Are you expecting one act to play a two hour set? One performer per evening, two 50 minute sets. Will you do any promotion? We do considerable advertising on local media and will promote each evening on local radio and newspaper. If you have a website with music clips, we'd like permission to use one as background music for our radio ad announcing your appearance here. Do you have support from local press? The local press have been very supportive so far. But more than that, everyone is excited about a music venue in the area and everyone is talking about it. You know small towns! Will artists be allowed to sell their records? Will you take a cut of their sales if they do? Artists can sell their own CDs, and we want no cut of that. It's your music, the proceeds are all yours. We might buy some of your CDs ourselves to sell in our store. Do you have sound equipment? Yes. We have a Peavey XR600F mixer/amp, two Crate PSM10 800 watt speakers, two stands, and four mics. It's adequate for our size.
What's the size of your stage? The stage is 6 x 10 with another four feet that angles off to a point. What is the capacity? It seats about two dozen people easily, with room for up to 40.
What if I want to perform as a pro, and not open mic? We want to ensure the quality of our performance offerings to the public. If you have a website with music clips, we'd appreciate hearing them. If not, please send us a resume' of where you've been. If you have neither, stop by with your instrument and let us hear.
